  • Abstract
    The detectability of a thin layer within a stratified medium is considered. The two limiting cases of a resistive and a conductive sheet are discussed for both TM (transverse magnetic) and TE (transverse electric) excitation. It is shown that the resistive sheet is only `visible¿ for the TM excitation.
