Abstract :
A simple closed-form approximate solution is given for the transmission coefficient of a normally incident electromagnetic plane wave through a screen made of periodic metal grids (inductive screen), or made of metal plates (the complementary capacitive screen). Explicit formulas are also presented for cascading screens and dielectric slabs. When compared with the exact solution, our approximate simple formulas show good numerical accuracy.
