Abstract :
The currents in and the field scattered by a thin wire over a material half-space composed of earth, sea water or lake water are determined. Full account is taken of the effect of the half-space on both the currents indneed in the wire and on the scattered field. Distributions of current, back-scattering cross sections, and scattering patterns are shown for both normal and nonnormal incidence and with the incident field polarized in and perpendicular to the plane of incidence.
