Abstract :
An efficient finite-difference method for the analysis of integrated optical waveguides is presented. As the zero divergence relation is included in the field formulation, the related eigenvalue problem comprises no spurious, nonphysical modes. The method is verified by numerical examples for an isotropic and an anisotropic channel waveguide.
