Abstract :
We estimate the performances of future long-haul high-bit-rate systems operating around 2.5 ¿m, taking into account the foreseeable effects of nonlinear attenuation. It is shown that, even in the case of ASK modulation, the Brillouin effect will not hamper system performances.
