Abstract :
The failure probability in static stress-strength models is determined by the interference region. Methods have been devised which determine the bounds on this unreliability based only upon the independent probabilities in this region; no distribution identification or knowledge of the means or variances is required. Unfortunately, empirical evidence demonstrates that existing methods can provide inaccurate bounds on the unreliability. An alternate method is developed which bounds the unreliability with certainty
