Abstract :
The effect of aging on silicone-coated optical fibres in various pH solutions is considered. A change of strength and stress corrosion susceptibility n has been found to occur in the pH region from 6 to 10. Aging for 2 yr in distilled water (pH = 6) has not changed the strength or the n parameter of the fibres investigated.
