Abstract :
Proposed is the first reported optical transmission system to employ frequency-domain equalisation (FDE) without a guard interval (GI). Efficient transmission of a 25 Gbit/s single-carrier (SC) with the proposed FDE is demonstrated under severe chromatic dispersion (CD) conditions. The results show that an SC with the proposed FDE is very tolerant of CD in spite of having no GI and can achieve higher transmission rates than those of conventional FDE with GI.
