Abstract :
The HSST-03, a maglev vehicle, is characterized by a module system which has a LIM for propulsion and four magnets´ for levitation and guidance unitized in a box beam structure. The HSST-03 vehicle is supported by six modules, three of which are arranged below both the left and right side of the rails. Against the vehicle body, the module has freedom for yaw, pitch, heave and sway, however rolling motion is restricted which allows the vehicle to run on a curve. In this paper, the curvature running test results obtained in EXPO ´86 truck are presented. The EXPO ´86 truck in Vancouver had 250 m-R curve and 1100 m-R curve. The mechanical and electrical data such as module motion, damping characteristics, magnet current and air gap were measured when the vehicle ran on the curve at the speed of 40 KM/H. During EXPO ´86, the vehicle showed no problems after having passed the curve 22,848 times, so the reliability of the module mechanism has been confirmed.
