Abstract
A long, easily installed distributed source is needed for confined optical broadcast systems in public or commercial premises. A commonly used technique for in-building cabling is that of blown fibre which provides extremely fast installation over complicated routes. The authors investigate the possibility of coated D-fibre which is not only installable by this method, but also provides a distributed source.
