Abstract :
The effects of nonlinear distortion of the magnetic recording channel observed in the unbalance codewords are examined to employ randomized NRZ in a short bit-length of 0.425 μm. To reduce the residual magnetization occurring with the "0" or "1" continuation, the low frequency components of the write currents are lowered by a write equalizer. The resultant error rate of pseudo-random NRZ at 108 Mb/s with the write equalization an the playback electronics is less than 10-4which is sufficient for digital video recording.
