Abstract :
Recent developments in generation and applications of pulsed high magnetic fields in Osaka University, are reported. Multi-layer high field pulse magnets, proposed and developed in Osaka University, are successfully operated. They can produce fields up to about one hundred Tesla without destroying the magnets. A new type of coil to get higher fields, a steel- copper composite coil, is proposed. Various new phenomena are found under pulsed high magnetic fields; that is, field induced insulator-metal transition, structural phase transitions like martensitic transformation, extinction of blue color of liquid oxygen, "Curie-Weiss law" of diamagnetic susceptibility, and so on.
