Abstract :
Eddy currents were induced in the wall of a stainless steel tube with a solenoidal exciting coil. The magnitude and phase of magnetic fields resulting from these eddy currents were measured in the vicinity of known flaws. Both axial and radial components of the magnetic field were measured for frequencies from 100 kHz to 5 MHz. The radial field measurements were numerically inverted to reconstruct a flaw in the wall of the tube.
