Abstract :
In long-distance optical communication systems using in-line optical amplifiers, the waveform distortion is induced by both the Kerr effect and the group-velocity dispersion of optical fibers. In this letter, we show that the optical phase conjugator placed at the midway of the transmission line can compensate for the Kerr effect as well as the group-velocity dispersion, preventing the waveform distortion.<>
