  • Abstract
    A 100 Mbit/s PSK heterodyne coherent optical communication system has been demonstrated using a frequencystabilised HeNe laser transmitter. The experiment incorporated a travelling-wave laser optical amplifier which gave 8 dB fibre-to-fibre gain with no significant system penalty.
