Abstract :
A premolded normal straight joint for 66 kV cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) insulated power cables that requires less time and skill in jointing was developed for temporary applications. This plug-in type ethylene-propylene rubber (EPR) normal straight joint has an expected useful life of one year. In various tests carried out on the developed joints, it was shown that the joint can be assembled quickly (in about one hour) without requiring much skill. The initial characteristics tests revealed that these joints are satisfactory for 66 kV XLPE cables. The expected performance of the joints are confirmed in long-term tests and in subsequent residual performance tests
