Abstract
The past two decades have seen computers becoming orders of magnitude smaller, cheaper and more powerful. While memory manufacturers have been packing more and more memory cells onto a single piece of silicon, processor designers have been taking a similar line in the design of single-chip microprocessors. The author also looks at supercomputing and parallelism which could lead to a global computer network
