Abstract :
A study to enhance the reliability of BC Hydro´s Ingledow 500 kV substation is described. The study employed truth tables and frequency and duration analysis. The study included double-breaker double-bus and 4×6 arrangements; the 4×6 arrangement was recommended for its cost and reliability advantages. It was found that conversion to a 4×6 (ultimately 6×9) arrangement will not require any special procedures in cuts and ties or in other factors in upgrading, such as protection and control concerns
