Abstract
An alternative queueing model, based on processing cell-rate changes, enables accelerated simulation of rare cell-loss events in ATM. A case study is presented to compare fluid-flow analysis and cell-rate simulation of a multiplexer loaded with homogeneous on-off sources. Results show excellent agreement, confirming the accuracy of the cell-rate technique for ATM simulation studies
