Abstract :
The Hamming distance concept is applied to modulation code to improve the error detection capability of the demodulator. It is helpful in increasing the error correction capability for the subsequent error correction. It is recommended in the paper that the demodulator perform error detection to facilitate the erasure correction in the error control coding (ECC) decoder. It is proposed that a modulation code with sufficient minimum distance be used to benefit the error detection in the demodulator. Also, explicit expressions of the system error rate are derived and simulation results are given
