Advanced digital high definition television (AD-HDTV) is an all-digital simulcast system designed to provide high-quality HDTV service to a large coverage area through a single 6 MHz terrestrial broadcast `taboo´ channel. The paper describes the technical details of the AD-HDTV video coding system and provides an analysis of the system performance
