Abstract :
The methods for high-level abstraction of complex objects described can support mechanisms that process abstracted information directly. Accordingly, the visual computer architecture, multimedia database systems, and multimedia operating systems are attractive areas for future research. The methods discussed are: the singular points approach; decomposition using Morse theory; modeling by the manifolds; Reeb graph of topological structure, visual reconstruction of objects; and approaches to abstraction.<>
