Abstract
The role which appropriate performance measurement has in the fashioning of a world-class manufacturing company is regarded by some as a critical factor in achieving success in a world market. The way to achieve fundamental improvements on the shopfloor is by enabling operators to establish their own measures, aligned to the business strategy, and use these to drive their ´kaizen´ activities. The author discusses how to implement these improvements.<>
