Abstract :
A significant reduction in bend losses in Y-cut Ti: LiNbO3waveguides by means of a double-diffusion technique is reported. Compared to pure Ti: LiNbO3 waveguide bends, MgO: Ti: LiNbO3 waveguide bends offer a reduction in the necessary bend radius by a factor as large as eight, if a total bend excess loss of 1 dB is allowable.
