  • Abstract
The eddy current losses and magnetic field distributions in the alternatively magnetized metal tape moving with constant velocity V are analyzed for the case of constant permeability. As a result of the analysis, the effect of additional eddy current losses for velocity V is estimated as approximately proportional to V2and the square of the reciprocal of coil length. Furthermore an interesting result is obtained in that the magnetic fields between tape and coil have leading phase on both time and space with respect to the exciting current. It is thus concluded that there is no effect due to deformed field distributions and additional eddy current losses caused by running velocity of the tape when detected by applying a symmetrically wound coil at center of the exciting coil.
