Globally optimising formant tracker using generalised centroids

An algorithm is presented which uses a method of generalised centroid estimation to describe a spectral distribution as a fixed number of peaks. The technique offers a useful alternative method of formant tracking for speech recognition. Results are included which show the performance of the algorithm.
