Abstract
The natural frequencies of a thin wire scatterer formed into an elliptical loop are determined theoretically by solving the homogeneous transform domain electric field integral equation (EFIE). Comparison with frequencies extracted from measurements of the time domain scattered field responses of elliptical and circular loops at various aspects validates the assumption of a natural mode expansion of the late-time response of conducting radar targets.
