Abstract :
The eigenfunction solution procedure is used to obtain numerical results for electromagnetic scattering from a two-dimensional inhomogeneous dielectric cylinder with circular cross section which is illuminated by a transverse electric (TE) or transverse magnetic (TM) plane wave. The permittivity within the cylinder is assumed to vary in the radial direction according to a power law. The procedure for determining one of the series coefficients involves the introduction of a new scatterer geometry which reduces to the original geometry as a geometrical parameter approaches zero.
