Abstract :
Optical wavelength conversion with tunability greater than 2.2 Ã
is demonstrated for the first time using a multielectrode DFB LD with a saturable absorber. This device can operate with both TE- and TM-polarised optical input. The device also has optical gain and pulse-shaping functions.
