Abstract
A method is described for stabilising the centre frequency of a directly modulated semiconductor laser. This method utilises the second derivative signal of the transmitted spectrum through a Fabry-Perot interferometer. The centre frequency fluctuation of a modulated AlGaAs laser with a maximum frequency deviation of 12 GHz is reduced to less than 15 MHz.
