Abstract :
The authors examine the possibility of realizing a video processor system which can display NTSC (National Television System Communication) images reproduced from various image devices on a computer display. They consider three problems connected with the case in which reproduced images coming from various image devices are displayed on the same screen at the same time together with computer characters and graphics: (1) how to display natural motion pictures with arbitrary shapes; (2) how to display natural motion pictures with arbitrary sizes; and (3) how to adjust the display method to deal with moving images, characters, and graphics. Some examples of actual system configurations are introduced, and possible applications of the video processor are reported, including an electronic motion picture encyclopedia
