Abstract :
A method for determining the radiation characteristics of a line source embedded in a layered medium having rough interfaces is described. This technique utilizes the plane wave spectral decomposition of the relevant fields in the framework of the extended boundary condition method. It is also shown that the equations derived for the general case reduce considerably when the interfaces are periodically rough. Extensions of the problem solved here have been briefly mentioned, and some numerical examples have been provided.
