Safety-related control and protection systems: standards update

This article provides an overview of the current working version of the proposed international standard on the functional safety of safety-related systems being developed by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC). The article also provides information on a number of other topics of current interest on safety-related systems. The Appendix gives an overview of risk and safety integrity concepts.<>
