Abstract
The effectiveness of the polarisation scrambling technique for suppressing BER fluctuation is confirmed experimentally with a 2900 km optical in-line amplifier transmission system. The technique suppresses the BER fluctuation by three orders of magnitude, from 10-5-10-9 to 10-810-9
