  • Abstract
A generalized approach for the assessment and description of compatibility levels between the power supply system and electrical equipment is proposed in this paper. The proposed approach is an alternative to the existing, widely used concept of electromagnetic compatibility (EMC). The existing EMC concept uses only two general stages for description and quantification of all possible interactions between power supply system and connected electrical equipment. This paper, on the other hand, discusses different types of power quality disturbances, as well as situations in which equipment has multiple malfunction criteria. The subject of the EMC is analyzed here from the equipment point of view.
