Abstract :
The paper describes the approach to the design of supercomputers, methods of architecture and hardware design including selection of integrated circuits, means of interconnection, power supply, and the cooling systems. The paper describes the main conceptions and presents a summary of architecture and hardware features of the 500 MFlops supercomputer system, Electronica SS BIS. It is stressed that research in the field of cooling systems for supercomputers is one of the key problems for the future development of supercomputer systems
