Abstract :
This paper describes methods for improvement of WLAN capacity in home environments with focus on reliable media transmission. Based on the analysis of typical wireless channels, methods of link adaptation and variation of OFDM parameters are compared with respect to link efficiency. A slight modification of current IEEE 802.11 standards - the introduction of a "home profile" - could improve the performance of home media networks.
