Abstract
Several methods of estimating the annual energy losses due to iron losses in wind turbine generators are investigated in this paper. Utilizing a high amount of transient finite-element solutions is first demonstrated. Usage of a space-time transformation for prediction of iron losses is also shown. The methods, which use varying amounts of simulation results and computational resources, are compared based on time required and consistency in varying wind climates.
