Abstract :
Future satisfaction of the electromagnetic spectrum needs of the maritime mobile service is dependent on the translation of those needs to frequency allocations. In September 1979, over 100 countries will consider all of the spectrum, and make changes to meet perceived needs of radio services, including maritime needs up to the year 2000. This conference, the World Administrative Radio Conference 1979, will have a significant impact on future maritime radio operations. Issues, procedures, competing requirements, are explored to enable a better understanding of the regulatory process for frequency allocations.
