Abstract
Theoretical results are presented for the magneto-optical effects encountered by a 1.15 μm laser light crossing a YIG bar where spinwaves are magnetically excited. Experimental results are reported for the optical probing of magnetostatic waves, exchange spinwaves, and magnetoelastic waves. The main results obtained are a qualitative verification of the polarization influence on the interaction intensity and measurements of the propagation losses and the focusing effect of the spinwave beam.
