  • Abstract
As smart phones offer more options, driving new applications development, we need to establish appropriate new standards. Here, we review existing related standards, focusing on two missing features that fully autonomous phones will require. The common Java standard for building enterprise class applications is the Java 2 platform, Enterprise Edition. J2EE supports a rich set of APIs, and many vendors provide implementations of those APIs for programming Web services.
