Abstract
A description is given of the vacuum ultraviolet (VUV) Super ACO ring accelerator. Three wiggler/undulator insertion devices under construction are described: a 3.2-m-long undulator for a free-electron laser, a 2.8-m-long classical permanent-magnet pseudo-wiggler, and a 3.0-m-long asymmetric hybrid wiggler. The dedicated Super ACO ring is a part of the LURE (Laboratoire pour l´Utilisation du Rayonnement Electromagnetique) storage ring complex which includes the 540-MeV electron ring ACO and the 1.85-GeV DCI positron ring. The authors also discuss start up, special optics for operation with insertions, scraper experiments, and their results, magnetic tolerances, and some of the automated measuring equipment installed.
