Abstract :
A method is described for optimal capacitor placement along a distribution line, using the data gathered by reactive current recorders installed at major feeder taps. A computer program was written to summarize the data and adjust it for seasonal variation so that they represent an average week. These adjusted data are then used to determine the size and placement along the feeder of both fixed and switched line capacitors to loss. The method used by the program for reporting the data is discussed
