The implementation of a mechanical engineering design interface using engineering features

Reports on the development of the engineering feature description concept. The features themselves are developed from a study of manufacturing methods. This approach provides a more natural and convenient method of representing a designer´s intentions to geometric modelling software. A brief description of a software package, DLink, developed to provide such a designer interface is presented, and the implications of the engineering feature description in total CAE systems design are considered
