Abstract :
Attractive low-cost and direct-reading active systems have been proposed for the incircuit and batch measurements of resistances. Sources of errors in such a system are critically analysed and an optimum design is suggested for error minimisation. Through such a design, accuracies of better than 1% may be assured over wide ranges. The system is also extended for the measurement of incremental resistance. Applications of the system in the measurement of nonelectrical quantities, such as temperature and strain, are included. The theory is well supported by experimental results, which also exhibit measurements within 1% accuracy over large ranges.
