Abstract
A model for collision processes between mags and tails particles in OGMS (open gradient magnetic separation) has been developed. This model gives a tool for the prediction of the outcome of a separation process, taking into account such parameters as stream thickness, stream deflection, and particle shapes. It was shown that this model agrees with experiment insofar as it describes the correct shapes of mags and tails streams which, together with their relative horizontal displacement, are the most important information necessary for the description of a separation process
