Abstract
A company specializing in medical imaging instruments decided five years ago to manufacture its own superconducting magnets according to specifications that would assure their highest reliability and simplest serviceability at the customer´s site. The highlights of the design philosophy, the resulting specifications and chosen solutions are briefly described. The authors outline the cryogenic performance of various designs considered, magnetic-field homogeneity for these magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) magnets, and the magnets´ stability.
