  • Abstract
Between 5 and 10% of closed-circuit television surveys of sewers in the UK are abandoned because the images are not sufficiently clear when the camera becomes submerged. Ultrasonic scanning can overcome this problem. The paper describes measurements which have been made to determine the acoustic properties of sewage and the characteristics of a sonar survey system which has been undergoing trials
