Abstract :
In the experimental system, the superconducting generator was connected through reactors (acting as an artificial transmission line) to a regional power system (infinite bus); a conventional generator (20 kVA, 220 V) was connected to the terminal of the superconducting generator. The output power of either generator was increased under constant output power of the other and constant field current of both generators. The terminal voltage, active and reactive power, and load angles were measured. The experimental results show: the steady-state stability of the system is improved by installing the superconducting generator; the terminal voltage can be kept constant even when both field currents are constant; and by isolating the conventional generator which goes into loss of synchronism, the superconducting generator can go into stable operation.
