Abstract
A data compressing technique is employed in an efficient prediction of antenna far field patterns in a finite difference time domain simulation. We present a technique in which the discrete cosine transform is used to compress the time domain field distribution on the surface of Huygens´ box and we store it in a compressed file that is much smaller than its original size. The far field pattern is predicted by using the reconstructed time domain field distribution through the near-to-far field transform technique. A patch antenna and slot antenna are employed to validate the proposed scheme.
